LinkedIn can feel intimidating at times.
You open the app and see people launching products, raising rounds, and announcing wins left and right.
Scroll a little further, and you’ll find strategists, influencers, and marketing experts telling you what works and what doesn’t.
You start to wonder:
Am I too late to start?
Is it the right time for me to start?
This week, we’re answering a simple but important question:
When is the right time to start on LinkedIn?
Key Signs You’re Ready to Start
• You’ve received a recent promotion
A title change is the perfect time to reposition yourself publicly and highlight your evolving leadership role.
• You’re looking to raise funds in the near future
Investors often check founders’ digital presence. A clear, consistent voice on LinkedIn builds credibility before the pitch.
• You’re hiring or planning to grow your team
LinkedIn isn’t just a job board. It’s your recruiting brand. Strong content helps attract aligned talent.
• You have clarity of purpose
You understand why your work matters and who it helps. Without this, even the best branding won’t stick.
• You’re ready to commit
You're willing to show up regularly, reflect on your ideas, and post with intention and quality.
• You’re open to conversations
You’re not just here to broadcast. You’re here to connect, and that’s what LinkedIn is built for.
When LinkedIn Can Wait
There are a few rare cases when it might not make sense to prioritize LinkedIn right away:
• You serve a niche audience that isn’t active on LinkedIn
• You’re in a highly confidential or stealth-mode role
• You’re in the middle of a deep personal or professional transition
In all other cases, the best time to start was yesterday.
The second-best time is today.
Any hesitation about starting is a myth. There’s no perfect moment when you’ll suddenly feel ready.

Dos and Don’ts for Starting Out
Dos
• Start building your network by commenting, messaging, and connecting with the right audience
• Experiment with topics and formats to find what you enjoy creating
• Maintain a regular posting rhythm. Consistency matters more than volume. Three posts per week is a good place to start
Don’ts
• Don’t copy what everyone else is doing without context or a clear strategy
• Don’t repost without adding your own point of view
• Don’t rely on AI-generated content with no real input or value
• Don’t post surface-level takes or jump on trends that don’t align with your goals
In leadership, reputation comes from doing and being seen doing. So maybe it’s time to stop overthinking and start showing up.
Executive Spotlight
Georges Fouad Salem is a business advisor and FinTech thought leader focused on scaling startups, SMEs, and fintechs across the Middle East and Africa.
If you’re into FinTech or just want to see what insightful industry content looks like, Georges has the pulse and perspective you’ll want to follow.

In this post, he breaks down how mobile wallets in MEA are evolving into full-stack Super Apps, and why the region could be fintech’s next global powerhouse.

Resource of the Week
We work remotely, and being in meetings for most of the workday can be draining. That’s why Loom is one of our favorite tools.
It’s perfect for giving feedback, teaching SOPs, or recording quick updates, without the hassle of scheduling calls.
You can record short videos and share them asynchronously, which keeps collaboration smooth and deep work uninterrupted.

Coming Up Next…
If you’re a founder trying to show up every day on LinkedIn just to keep up, you may be going backwards. Consistency works differently for executives.
Want to know how? Stay tuned for next week’s issue.
Till then, start showing up. It’s never too early or too late.
