Many creators and executives thrive on LinkedIn, but they don’t all use the same format. Some post two-liners, others use images, and many swear by carousels.
What does that tell us? There’s no single “best” format.
Pick what fits your personality and what you enjoy, and keep showing up. Over time, you’ll be known for it.
The Problem
Many executives start by copying what’s trending like selfies with random coffee quotes. But if it doesn’t match your strengths or personality, it won’t land.
As a founder or executive, you already have a reputation. Your content should reflect that.
Pick a Format That Feels Like You
These are some of the most popular formats on LinkedIn, and understanding what suits your personality can help you show up more consistently.

Text Posts
Best for: writers, thinkers, storytellers
When you’ve mastered writing, you want to be valued for your words alone. Text-only posts offer that space, minimal but powerful when packed with sharp insights.
Many executives use this format to build a thoughtful presence that showcases their clarity and experience.
Carousels
Best for: teachers, explainers, people who like structure
If you love simplifying complex ideas and turning them into step-by-step visuals or clear tables, carousels are for you.
Perfect for people who naturally teach through clarity and structure.
Image + Text
Best for: visual thinkers, brand builders
If you're building a brand around your face, team, or work, this format helps you stay top of mind.
It doesn’t always have to be a selfie. Any image that makes someone pause and think, “this is worth my attention,” can work.
Video
Best for: speakers, coaches, high-energy personalities
If you're comfortable on camera and good at expressing ideas verbally, video builds trust fast.
It also works for faceless formats, like tutorials or voiceovers, if you're creative with how you present. Use it to show tone, energy, and presence in ways text can’t.
Polls or Questions
Best for: community builders
If you like starting conversations, polls and questions are a great tool. They help you engage others and learn from them.
These aren’t strict rules. Just because one format fits your style today doesn’t mean you can’t explore others.
The Biggest Game-Changer
Try different formats and see which ones feel effortless, sustainable, and get real traction. Then stick to that.
Polls may lose reach, videos might be booming, and carousels take effort, but what will you still enjoy creating six months from now?
That’s your format.
Algorithms change. Your personality doesn’t. Let your profile reflect it.
